Domestic Cocoon Situation, exhibition curated by Rakett in collaboration with Maria Rusinovskaya
Including works by: Jorunn Myklebust Syversen, Lilli Hartmann, Marius Mørch, Mattias Härenstam and Jon-Martin Kolnes. The exhibition was a satellite event to Barents Spektakel.
Domestic Cocoon Situation consisted of a screening of five videos. Jorunn Myklebust Syversen: Burning love I and II, Mattias Härenstam: Supermarket and Hundekälte (Nächtes jahr wird noch kälter), Lilli Hartmann: Sing little bird, Marius Mørch: Guess it’s our turn now. Rakett made The Living room, an installation from where one could watch the video program. The exhibition also included a site specific land art sculpture by architect Jon-Martin Kolnes, outside the museum.
SKATV from Oslo was invited to produce reportages from the Rakett Satellite in Murmansk and also the different projects at Barents Spektakel in Kirkenes. Continuously updated interviews and reportages made during the festival will be screened on monitors in the city of Kirkenes. Their participation is based on their brand new gadget: the SKATV SOUNDSYSTEM!
SKATV SOUNDSYSTEM is a portable big-time ghettoblaster on wheels. Inspired by Jamaican reggae culture. They built this powerful system exclusively for reggae/dub music on audio mixtapes. Made out of rain-forest wood from the much disputed temporary pavilion in the Norwegian National Museum, it contains a 115 Ah 9 v battery, two 3-ways 10 inch speakers and a 200W active subwoofer. Mounted on wheels it can be situated on the beach, in the park, on the parking lot or in your neighbour’s garden. During the Barents festival it will function as a mobile TV studio.
In conjunction with the exhibition together with Maria Ruzinovskaya, Rakett organised Live Night/Get-Together with the musicians Mombus (Murmansk), Lia and Sebastian Meissner (Austria), SKA TV (Russia/Norway)
Rakett goes to Barents with support from:
